INTRODUCING THE AVOW ADVANCED SL TRI FRAMESET

With cutting-edge design and innovative construction, the Avow Advanced SL Tri Frameset is built for the women who are redefining what’s possible in triathlon. With participation surging, faster bike splits, and more technical courses, this bike doesn’t just keep up—it sets the pace.

From powering up climbs to dominating descents and carving through corners, the Avow is redesigned to deliver. Explore our testing results to see how we’ve pushed the limits in weight, stiffness, efficiency, and aerodynamics.

When women raise the bar, their bikes should too.

WEIGHT COMPARISON

While seemingly objective, frameset weight can be a highly subjective variable. It all hinges on what is considered a frameset. Liv defines a frameset as follows:

  • Size medium, painted and decaled production frame
  • Painted production fork
  • Seatpost with internal seatpost clamp (ISP)
  • Front and rear derailleur hanger/clamps
  • Expander, top cap, headset and spacers
  • Aero handlebars and extensions
  • AeroVault componentry
  • All production hardware (water bottle bolts, etc.)

Weight Comparison Summary

The new Avow Advanced SL Tri Frameset makes the leap from Advanced-grade composite to our most premium Advanced SL-grade composite, applying cutting-edge materials and construction techniques for unmatched performance. Every tube shape was meticulously refined to reduce weight without sacrificing strength or stiffness. And we didn’t stop there—every detail, from the cockpit to the hydration system and bento box, was optimized for maximum weight savings.

All of these innovations add up: the all-new Avow Advanced SL Tri Frameset is a full 433g lighter than its predecessor, making it the lightest, fastest Avow we’ve ever built.

STIFFNESS + EFFICIENCY COMPARISON

Stiffness was assessed using industry-standard protocols with size medium framesets. Liv tested both pedaling and torsional stiffness with the corresponding fork in place. This provides a far more accurate measure of how a bicycle will perform in real-world conditions and helps ensure that our testing procedures translate into performance gains that can be felt on the road.

Our testing determined how much the complete frameset flexed torsionally under load, with each frame locked at the rear dropouts and lateral force applied to the fork. Higher frame stiffness means better cornering and response to rider input.

With nearly a decade of the Avow’s proven performance on the racecourse, we’ve listened closely to athlete feedback. They loved the balance of steering, sprinting, and pedaling stiffness, so we made sure to retain that perfect formula. The one consistent request was to make it lighter—so, we did. By integrating Advanced SL-grade composite, we achieved a lighter frameset without sacrificing the stiffness athletes depend on.

Stiffness + Efficiency Comparison Summary

The result? A 10% improvement in efficiency. The new Avow Advanced SL is not only faster and more responsive, but it also delivers the ideal combination of stiffness and agility. It’s designed to perform at the highest level— while giving you that extra edge in every race.

The new Avow Advanced SL maintains the same exceptional aero efficiency as the previous Avow Advanced Pro, despite the performance shift from rim to disc brakes.

This consistency is achieved through our ongoing commitment to AeroSystem Shaping Technology, which has been applied to every tube shape and junction to minimize drag and optimize efficiency.

AeroSystem Shaping Technology combines cutting-edge Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis with wind-tunnel testing, ensuring the frameset performs as a cohesive, high-performance unit. Each section of the frameset is meticulously engineered to reduce drag and manage airflow across all relevant yaw angles, fine-tuning the frameset’s aerodynamic capabilities.

To ensure the utmost precision, we use wind-tunnel testing with a dynamic mannequin that features anatomically correct, articulating legs. This setup allows us to measure pressure and friction drag while simulating the exact interaction between the rider and the bike, eliminating variables such as body position and pedaling cadence, and ensuring consistent, reliable results.

Key updates to the new Avow include modified truncated ellipse shaping on the head tube, down tube, fork, and seatpost. Additionally, the integration of disc brakes prompted a redesign of the frame and fork, incorporating new tubing shapes that integrate the front and rear calipers, further minimizing drag.

The new integrated fueling system is another significant advancement. It includes a large hydration reservoir (700ml for size XXS, XS, and S frames; 850ml for medium) and a sleek bento box on the top tube behind the handlebar extensions. This not only improves aerodynamics but also ensures the rider is efficiently fueled for long, intense races.

These updates refine every aspect of the Avow, ensuring it remains the ultimate platform for triathletes seeking the perfect balance of speed, efficiency, and customizability for their race-day performance.
