When did you first realize you loved cycling? | Since I first sat on a three-wheeled bike. I fell in love with cycling at the first sight. |
Is there a woman in your life who has played an important role in your cycling journey? | Sonja Traxel. She was a former junior World Champion in my home club when I was a small girl. I admired her so much and I wanted to be as good as she was. |
What do you wish you knew when you were starting out as a cyclist? | I grew up in a cycling family, so I had the big advantage of having experts at home since the beginning. |
Who inspires you? | My brother, Reto. He was a professional athlete himself and could manage family on the side and he showed me everything important. |
What does the future of cycling look like to you? | The future looks bright and a lot of women are getting passionate as well. I hope even more girls will ride and that the media will be interested as well. |
How do you hope to have an impact on the next generation of cyclists? | I hope to be a role model showing that cycling can be so much fun, hard work, and passion all together. I try to stay focused and do the (hard) work but I never forget to take it as an adventure and there is always time for coffee and cake. |
What have been the biggest barriers for you so far in your cycling journey, and how have you navigated/ overcome them? Did you have help? And what advice would you give others facing similar challenges? | I did an apprenticeship and had to learn a lot for school. But I had good time management that helped me do both. My advice is to never give up and always try to improve and keep going. |
