Charlotte was born in Scotland and grew up following her older sisters and father into triathlons and cross-country running. She fell in love with the sport of triathlon at the age of seven and following a move to rural Victoria, Australia in 2005, the much more agreeable climate allowed Charlotte to take triathlon more seriously.
Initially competing in long course, Charlotte took on 10 half Ironmans before the age of 20. She was then convinced to attempt ITU (short course) racing. Since taking on triathlon full time, Charlotte now races around the world, basing herself between Wollongong, NSW and Spain as the seasons change. She has a long list of achievements and is currently ranked 8th overall in the World Triathlon Series. For 2018, Charlotte has the Commonwealth Games in her sights.
