The fifth round of the UCI XC Mountain Bike World Cup series kicked off yesterday, in Pal Arinsal, Andorra. After claiming spots on the podium at the Regional and World Championships, Ronja Blöchlinger triumphantly returned to the series securing the victory in the U23 Cross-country Short Track XCC, on her Pique Advanced Pro 29 with a winning time of 18.36 minutes.
"I spent most of the race staying with the pack, trying to gauge how the other athletes were feeling after the long break," said Blöchlinger as she reflected on her performance. "I moved ahead of the group in the second last lap and some riders followed. Towards the last lap I was in second place and was feeling good. I waited for a chance to attack in the final lap, which was risky but it worked. The race came down to a sprint finish, which was exciting and I was able to take the win."
This victory marks the fifth win in the series for the Liv Factory Racing athlete. With this achievement, she garners the maximum points available in the U23 XCC category so far, reigning as the leader of the overall series. "I am happy to take my fifth win of the series in the short track!" With only three rounds left of the series, things are looking promising for the leader.
